2008 Handbook for Pooh’s Corner Daycare

Welcome!

            Pooh’s Corner is a daycare in a family home setting.  Our small size allows us to provide your child with a nurturing environment and more individual attention to foster self-esteem and emerging social skills.  Our goal is to promote the development of the whole child (physically, emotionally, socially and intellectually), by actively promoting positive interaction between children.  I am resolved to build a partnership with you and your family for the personal benefit of your child.  Every effort will be made to develop and maintain an open line of communication, so that we may work together for your child’s continuing growth.

            The following forms must be on file by your child’s first day at Pooh’s Corner:

EMERGENCY INFORMATION

            It is imperative that you update any address or phone number changes for your work or office as soon as possible in case we need to reach you in the event of an emergency.

MONTHLY TUITION

            2009 tuition is as follows:

            Tuition is always due on the first of every month.  Tuition increases about 4% every year.  The tuition year begins in January and ends in December, thus, tuition will increase every January. 

LATE FEE POLICY

Our daycare is open from 8:00am to 5:30pm every day, which should be plenty of time for you to schedule pickups between you and your spouse.  We ask that you to please respect the pick-up times as it has also been a long day for your child or children. In the event that you should arrive after the pick-up time, a late fee of ten dollars per child will be assessed for every fifteen minutes or fraction there of past 5:30.  For example, if you arrive at 5:50, there will be a late fee of $20.  Late fee invoices will be pinned to the board in a personalized envelope, and payment is expected by the next time your child is dropped off for daycare. Please understand that we would much rather have you here on time than to charge you any late fees. Special circumstances can usually be arranged with at least 24 hours prior notice.  

HOLIDAYS

Please mark your calendars.

ABSENCES

            Please call each day your child will be absent unless we have been informed in advance.  We greatly appreciate every day in advance that you can inform us of such an absence.

TERMINATION

A written notice of 30 days or more is required prior to the termination of this contract.

HEALTH POLICY

            This health policy follows the guidelines published by the San Mateo County Department of Health.  Please inform us immediately if your child has been exposed to, develops symptoms of, or has been diagnosed with ANY CONTAGEOUS ILLNESS:

-Severe Coughing

            Chest cold or productive cough
            High pitched or whooping sound
            Red or blue in the face while coughing

-Sore throat or trouble swallowing

-Headache with a still neck (contact doctor immediately)

-Fever

-Diarrhea (keep child home for 24 hours after symptoms cease)

-Vomiting (keep child home for 24 hours after symptoms cease)

-Difficult or rapid breathing

-Yellowish skin or eyes

-Pink eye

-Unusual spots or rashes

-Unusual dark or tea colored urine

-Grey or white stool

            Should your child develop any of these symptoms while in our care, he/she will be isolated from the other children and you will be contacted to pick him/her up as soon as possible.
